Ultrasonic vibrator is also called ultrasonic welding transducer. The whole body after connecting the transducer and the horn is called vibrator. A device that converts electrical energy and mechanical energy (acoustic vibration) by piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric ceramics, and amplifies by front and rear radiation cover blocks matched with acoustic impedance.

 

Since the horn is a passive device, it does not produce vibration itself, but changes the input vibration amplitude and then transmits it to complete the impedance transformation. The ultrasonic transducer can produce regular vibration under the electric field excitation, but the amplitude is generally about 10 μ m, which is not enough to complete the welding and processing process directly. Therefore, when the transducer is connected with a properly designed horn, the amplitude of the ultrasonic wave can be changed in a large range. As long as the material strength is enough, the amplitude can exceed 100 μ M.

 

Common materials of ultrasonic vibrator

1. Aluminum horn has high sound transmission efficiency, but low material strength, easy to crack and screw hole slide wire

2. The steel horn has high strength, but relatively large acoustic impedance

3. Titanium alloy horn has good comprehensive performance, but its disadvantages are high price and difficult processing.
